Canada's finest creatures
in their finest moments.
Featured Project
Cardinal Carnival
This one is for all of you backyard birders! I wanted to do a series with a species that would demonstrate how beautiful the everyday creatures around us can be. I knew right away - it had to be cardinals - cute, colourful and full of character. They did not disappoint.

Meet Nick Thompson,
the Ottawa-based photographer behind Canadian Creatures.
Nick began his wildlife photography journey with a DSLR purchased second-hand and an old telephoto lens originally built for film cameras. While the first photos were more a proof-of-concept than anything, they inspired years of pursuit and a deep passion for wildlife. Many cameras later, Nick is still out there in search of beautiful scenery and above all, fleeting encounters with Canada's creatures. He is excited to finally be sharing some of his favourite moments and photos with you.
